The Sierra comes with four distinct engines, two new transmissions, and the option for rear- or all-wheel drive. The base model is equipped with a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine that churns out 310 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. It is wed to an eight-speed automatic transmission and comes with two available V-8 choices: a 355-hp 5.3-liter and a 420-hp 6.2-liter.
For the new model year, GMC bolstered the towing of two of its engine options. That includes the base engine, a 2.7-liter turbo-4 that gets a boost from 383 lb-ft of torque to 420 lb-ft. This helps raise the max towing capacity from 9,100 to 9,600 lb when fitted with rear-wheel drive.
Engaging And Relaxing Features
The majority of Sierra 1500s come with a big 13 inch touchscreen through which passengers can learn more about the pickup or engage and relax. The Sierra comes with integrated Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability as standard and features Google software that helps access the app store, maps, and a voice assistant functions. Additional offerings include a 12-speaker Bose audio system, wireless phone charging, and accessible power points throughout the interior.
The Denali Ultimate edition comes with massaging seats, expansive leather upholstery, custom map designs of Mount Denali across the dash and seats, and GM’s Super Cruise driver-assist system that empowers you with hands-free driving, even when towing.
Upgraded And Advanced Safety
For the 2022 year, the Sierra 1500’s safety equipment also gets a few great upgrades. The new Sierra comes with available off-road assistance tech, such as a Terrain Mode for conditions that are best-handled while driving with one pedal at low speeds. The pickup can be fitted with a unique multi-camera system that even includes settings that let the driver virtually see through a trailer if they’re towing one. The Denali edition comes with GM’s available Super Cruise hands-free-driving tech, which works with a wide network of roads across the U.S.
